Welcome to the MOOC
“Communities and Hurricanes in the Caribbean: Local Capacities to Face Disasters”
This course aims to strengthen the knowledge and preparedness of Caribbean communities in the face of hurricanes—a natural phenomenon that deeply impacts life in the region.
Throughout the sessions, we will explore the social, cultural, and environmental dynamics that shape local responses to disasters. The MOOC emphasizes the value of community capacities, resilience, and self-managed strategies for prevention and recovery.
We will combine theoretical content, case studies, and practical exercises to promote collective action and situated learning. This space is intended for community leaders, professionals, students, and anyone interested in contributing to safer and more sustainable communities. We invite you to be part of this learning process that recognizes local knowledge as an essential resource for addressing climate challenges.
