Program overview
Since 1994, the UNESCO World Heritage Education Programme has placed young people at the heart of World Heritage. Guided by the conviction that the future of heritage depends on the engagement of future generations, the Programme empowers youth as partners, knowledge-holders, advocates, and agents of change.
Working with youth organizations, schools, institutions, and a wide range of partners around the world, the Programme equips young people with the knowledge, skills, and values needed to address ongoing challenges and encourages them to take an active role in the protection, preservation, and promotion of World Heritage.
For more than three decades, the World Heritage Education Programme has demonstrated a powerful truth: there can be no sustainable future for World Heritage without informed, engaged, and empowered young people.
